Resolution #2018-12, resolved: that a fund be established to provide a $1000 scholarship to dependents of our fallen as they graduate high school and enter an accredited post high school College, Vocational, or Trade School. Andrew Capuano, dependent of Daniel Capuano from Chicago Fire Department Firefighters Union - Local 2 will receive $1000. Daniel gave his life on 12/14/2015 while battling a warehouse fire. #ScholarshipSunday

AFFI LEGISLATIVE ALERT Governor JB Pritzker signs HB2455 During the General Assembly’s three-day emergency session, the AFFI legislative team added all COVID-19 related illnesses to the list of rebuttable presumptions covered under the Workers Compensation Act. This includes a waiver of the five-year employment threshold for our newest members.

Anyone that knows her understands the dedication and advocacy she instills in her work. MonmouthLocal1702 responded to reports of heavy smoke coming from the inside of an apartment complex on Friday. Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure to be producing a large volume of smoke and started a search for occupants and attempted to identify the affected areas. #AFFIatWork https://www.reviewatlas.com/news/20200530/no-injuries-in-monmouth-apartment-fire

Galesburg firefighters rescue woman from apartment fire. "The Central Station crew entered with an attack line through a front door but were driven back by high heat. A second crew attacked the fire from the North side allowing the Central Station crew to re-enter. The attack crew (Central Station crew) heard someone crying for help on the second floor. They dropped their attack line and using a thermal imaging camera proceeded up a stairwell through heavy smoke to find a 23 year old female and her dog. They were able to get her out of the structure and she was taken to the hospital by Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services." Galesburg Firefighters Association
